Available Volunteer Projects

Help us make Revelation Gardens an even better place for the animals who call it home.

There are always things to be done at Revelation Gardensโ€”and some of them don’t require a regular volunteer schedule.
These projects are specific ways you can use your time, skills, or a Saturday morning to make a difference for the animals.

If a project catches your eye, click Claim Project and we’ll be in touch to coordinate the details.

Take Items to the Dump

We have some items that need to be hauled to the dump

Approximate time for project: 1 hour

Materials needed: Just you!

Take Recycling to Paris Center

We accumulate quite a bit of recycling. Now that the Camden cardboard center is closed, we could use help driving our recycling to the Paris center.

Approximate time for project: 1-1/2 hours

Materials needed: Just you!

Laundry

We have 55 animals at our Flatwoods location which means we have a lot of laundry! If you have a few hours, we could really use the help washing, drying and folding blankets.

Approximate time for project: 2 hours, prefer weekly or every two weeks

Materials needed: You!

Help Organize

Our carport tends to be where everything collects and we need help organizing and putting items in their proper place. If you love organizing, this project is for you!

Approximate time for project: 2+ hours

Materials needed: Just you!

Cleaning up Flower Beds & Berry Bushes

We have a few flower bed areas and areas with blackberries and blueberry bushes. We need help pruning and cleaning up the areas.

Approximate time for project: 2 hours

Materials needed: Pruning shears, knowledge of flower beds and berry bushes

Weed Whacking Catio areas

We have 6 catio and outdoor dog areas that need someone to weed whack the weeds.

Approximate time for project: 1-2 hours

Materials needed: Just you!

Give Preventative Medications to Animals

Every 3 months we give our animals an oral de-wormer medication. With 55 animals, we could certainly use the help. You will need to be comfortable giving oral medications and be familiar with dosing and log onto a medical record form. A demonstration will be provided.

Approximate time for project: 1-2 hours

Materials needed: Just you!

Help us winterize the cabins

The under-cabin areas have large gaps that need to be redone before winter. Last year, we added plastic sheeting and used paint stir sticks to screw it to the under-cabin joists. It did not last. This year, we need to use better materials that are weather-resistant or weatherproof.

Approximate time for project: 2 hours

Materials needed: Something to block wind and weather and strips of pressure treated wood, screws, washers, a drill

Solve Gravel Issue

The dogs somehow push the gravel to the outside of the kennel wall causing bare areas with exposed dirt. The dirt turns to mud in wet weather creating hazards for volunteers and the dogs.

Create a solution.

Perhaps putting up a border barrier to keep the gravel in the kennel so it can be distributed back around, would solve the problem.

Approximate time for project: To be determined

Materials needed: Pressure treated lumber, some way to secure barrier to kennel wall, or another idea

Finish installing a graveyard fence

We started a project building a fence around our cat resting area (those who have crossed the rainbow bridge). Two sides need to be completed.

We also need to figure out how to create a gate. We have an old wooden gate and some adjacent panels that are no longer being used. We think those can be repurposed for this project.

Approximate time for project: To be determined

Materials needed: Nothing needed for fence.

Gate portion of project might need some tools. You’ll need to take a look and determine what is needed.

Build an Awning Over the Dog Door

We have been using a tarp to protect Cocoa and Duke from rain and snow which has mostly worked, but the rain settles on the top of the kennel and was not intended to be a long term solution. We would like an awning build. It would have to be over the top of the kennel and extend out so the run off falls outside of their outdoor area.

Approximate time for project: To be determined

Materials needed: Pressure treated lumber, poly or metal roof panel, cement, screws, washers, drill, saw, saw horses, measuring tape, pencil, level, skill in building

Replace Catio Roof

The catio roof was reused after it was blown off and damaged in a storm. The frame is bent and the canvas does not fit well creating depressions where rain collects, unprotected areas, and areas that netting was used to cover gaps. We don’t know the best solution.

Approximate time for project: To be determined

Materials needed: To be determined

Repair chewed areas

Cocoa chewed areas around and in her cabin. She is growing out of the chew phase and we would now like to repair those areas.

Approximate time for project: To be determined

Materials needed: Plywood, saw, drill, screws, washers, tape measure, pencil, saw horses
